Just some examples of some leg stretches for your pitcher to do! I always get the response of I don’t know what to do or I have never done those exercises before.
Add these stretches to your warmup routine!!
-cat cow, T-spine fours, T,Y,I’s, wall T-spine/ rainbows
This is a 4 step series to work on arm slot and body mechanics to get the body open, loose, understand arm slot, working on staying through and not pull across the body. The second half steps work on the pinch and resistance in the pitch.
Add some rhythm and connection into her pitch as well as working on that higher knee drive and launch out of the front side.
working on her arm slot with proper elbow pinch, core support, and snap.
Good breakdown for body awareness. Can be done with plyo-balls, heavy softballs, a wad of socks, or an actual ball. Would be a great drill to work on throwing the ball in the glove too!
This is your footwork foundation for a lot of your standing stationary drills.
Typically the 3rd or 4th step in your pitchers warmup. Good for timing and getting the feeling of both arms working together. I would use a 14in softball during this drill!
Do this drill better than me and by bum hips! Get some power out of the leg and my toes! Add some jump rope before or after this drill for additional help!
Work on Balance and leg drive power with this one! Simple, easy setup, and the right level of challenge! Can even be done without throwing a ball!
Challenge and work on that forearm power!! There’s two parts though so stay for both drills to work on!
Let’s work on that arm speed and help that arm path out. Simple and easy to do! She can even snap into her glove!
Can be done with a pair of wadded up socks and a Couch! Doubles as a core workout if desired!
